When starting your day, do your surroundings influence your attitude to be positive? After a long and busy day, does coming into your space give you a sense of relief? If you answered no to these questions, the decor style of your home is throwing off the positive energy you need. Do you tend to feel uncomfortable and want to get out of your place? If so, the style of your home is negatively affecting your life.
How you live and what you invite into your life is partially influenced by elements used to decorate. Furnishings, fixtures, fabrics, colors, art, and plants together form a unique character of a room. That specific quality affects how you think, feel, and respond; the following describes how so:
5 ways to change the energy of your space
The effect of color on your mood is the most crucial factor in decorating. Lighter colors make the room appear open and spacious, but dark colors absorb more light and make the room appear more enclosed. Some, such as soft greens and blues create calmness, whereas striking reds and yellows are stimulating. Not only choosing what color but where you assign it to is important as well. Yellow expresses happiness, perfect for a kitchen or bathroom; to paint this color in large amounts in a bedroom, generates frustration.
While you may not have a spectacular view of the beach, mountains, meadows, or forest, you can bring a piece of the outside, inside. Plants improve air quality, which results in more relaxation and focus. Flowers that are vibrant in color promote energy. Even art prints or sculptures resembling subjects of nature do the trick!
If emotionally you don’t seem so great when it’s gloomy outside, why have dim lighting inside your home? Sunlight is an effective way to shift your energy as it aids in producing endorphins and serotonin. A solution to not enough window lighting is to simply buy fixtures that will produce enough light to literally brighten up your space!
Have you ever heard of feng shui? It’s a practice that uses energy forces to align you with your surrounding environment. Structuring your furniture pieces not only creates multiple paths physically but mentally gives your brain perspectives. Always choose what is comfortable for you. To purchase a soft and squishy sofa, be sure it’s the right size for a specific space; will the material make you anxious about spilling something on it?
Organization and decor
Too many miscellaneous items cluttered everywhere will overwork your brain and stress you out. Organizational bins or drawers are your new best friends. Mirrors are a great addition to implement space and more light. Energy can bounce around a room, therefore a mirror in a bedroom is not always ideal when it comes to sleeping. Fuzzy blankets are soft and plush, giving you a sensation of warmth just by looking at them. Display photos of your loved ones, pets, vacations, and childhood memories; add what sparks joy!
